Whelp, it's not spring cleaning...more like winter cleaning? O_o I'm going to go through my flist and remove people that I'm not overly connected with. If this is you, then I greatly apologize but I didn't feel we had connected.

Sometimes I'll accidentally remove someone I did not mean to, if you feel this is you, please comment here.

Hello!

I'm glad you got my comments and decided to contact me :D

I've been a Pagan since a younger age too, I was a freshman in high school when I realized my path.

I have been interested in Druidry for quite a while now but I had a run in (in person) with a person claiming to be a Druid who was quite mean about the situation. That in itself goes against most teachings of Druidry today. Unfortunately though, I let that experience throw me off that path and forget about it until a few months ago.

I was debating joining one of the many Druid groups out there, I wanted to join one that offered a training program. I wanted to join the OBOD first, however, it's very expensive and I think I'll save that for when I'm more financially sound. Plus it's a huge financial commitment for someone who hasn't been in a group such as this before.
That's when I learned about the AODA. I read through the Druidry Handbook and enjoyed it and thought about joining them first. However, there was one belief that really bothered me, their belief with animals. It just didn't sit right with me. I realize that I can reject that belief personally and still be a member of the group but I wanted to do a little more searching.
That's when I found ADF. I fell in love with the group, plus the fact that you pay $25 a year for membership and go through their training for free really helped. ADF focuses on Druidry as a religion whereas other groups focus on it as spiritual beliefs and you can believe in any religion along with being part of their group. I think that's great and all but I really want to focus on Druidry as a religion, ADF does that.

Robert Lee Ellison is actually the Archdruid of ADF! Isaac Bonewits was the Archdruid before him. Both of those books give a great idea of Druidry in general but are great examples of ADF in general.
John Michael Greer was a member of ADF at one point and published a book through ADF. Now John Michael Greer is the Archdruid of AODA.

If any of those books really hit you on a deep level, then you should really check out these groups. I am going to be biased and say that out of all my looking around, ADF was the best one for me. So I highly recommend you check out their site (I'll give you lots of links at the end of this comment.)

http://www.adf.org/core/

http://www.adf.org/training/resources/reading.html - That reading list has loads of books on it, it has books that a specifically about Druids and it has books that encompass cultures that were linked to the Druids. That's the recommended reading list for those on the Dedicant Path (that's the training program for members of ADF, once you finish that training you can get into some of their other training programs.)

I'm going to end this comment here so you can have time to reply to what I've already said or ask anymore questions if you want to or need to :)
