I think "just because" is the worst 'reason' or defense especially coming from a parent to a child. It is so crushing that not only are you being deprived of whatever the situation is you are seeking, but you are also being deprived of any sort of reasoning or understanding. I think a lack of comprehension during the later years of adolescence is absolutely the most devastating emotion. I experienced it and I will never act that way towards my kids.

If one knows that his parents can be Nazis, wouldn't one also know to avoid trouble when the time for having fun gets close? Don't think of what I am suggesting as ass-kissing. Rather, it's a form of insurance, or choosing your battles wisely. There's no need to get into a fight right before a concert or whatever. My point is that being randomly banned from doing things by your 'rents is generally avoidable with a little planning ahead. It's still bad that one's parents may not always be diplomatic and fair, but no one is perfect

intresting perspective...Her being disrespectful is one thing, but my mom not showing us what fairness is, can be another thing. My sister needs not be disrespectful to my mother first and foremost. My Mother needs not be unfair to my sister because of her anger.
