Draco recognized the field with the scorched earth offering lazy tendrils of smoke skyward and the figures strewn as they fell during the battle.
His mind skirted away from his involvement.
People he knew, hated, loved... they were all dead. Only one other stirred, a girl in black who moved like she was dancing through the corpses. An ankh flashed around her neck, and Draco momentarily rebelled. “No! I don’t want... it’s too soon!”
She smiled at him, words unnecessary for him to know she was his oldest, closest friend.
“I’m ready,” he sighed, embracing Death with a warm hug.

“I gave him my soul,” Ginny whispers into the shimmering abyss. “I don’t want to dream of him anymore.”
“You’re outside of Dream’s power here,” says the girl with two different colored eyes. She is also a lost child, Ginny thinks, no matter how much power she wields over the ever-changing landscape. “This is mine, and you can be (think) whatever you want.”
Ginny just wants to laugh and free herself from the darkness of her world. It is summer, and in Ginny’s mind she flutters past wild flowers on iridescent wings until she can bear to dream (be) again.
