Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving, as the only real expectation of the day is eating more in one sitting than is possibly healthy. Me and my family are purists - no breakfast or lunch, only dinner (Which is normally served around 2pm), only today we ate an hour or so earlier because my grandparents arrived a bit early. Our feast consisted of a 22lb turkey, dressing, stuffing (nothing wrong with having both), mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans with baby potatoes, corn, two kinds of rolls, deviled eggs (which I made beautifully), broccoli casserole, cheese balls and cranberry sauce. For desert we had lemon merangue pie, mini chocolate pies and strawberry cheesecake (which I made).

The only downside of Thanksgiving is you have to go to relative's houses and choke down food. I lost an earring at Formerly Lesbian But Now Married cousin's house (her ex-girlfriend was there. And at the other dinner. Like she was family. Dunno why she wants to be part of this family...) which made me sad, as it was one of my awesome three inch long silver and black swoopy earrings. At the other dinner we mostly sat and watched Napoleon Dynamite. (Awkwardly, our family was dressed nice - I was even wearing my pretty gypsy skirt - while everyone else was wearing basically pyjamas.) Then our night was spent trying to put up a Christmas tree but being interrupted by various visitors and watching AC/DC's Let There Be Rock, as per holiday tradition.

I seem to have caught my sister's cold. Misery.

I realized I never mentioned my Children's Lit leading discussion last week, which totally rocked. We did Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and we started the discussion by Sorting the class into Houses, and then going into a really interesting discussion. Totally rocked it.
