by the light of the moon, i'm comin' home

Last night I saw Murder by Death play at a tiny dive bar, and it was just as amazing as you'd imagine. I was just a few feet away from the band and the performance was so, so great. They sound so fantastic live, and since there isn't a bad Murder by Death song, I was happy with literally everything they played. (And they did play several of my favorite-favorites -- Fuego and Three Men Hanging and Brother and ugh I love so many of their songs and it was all so good.) Adam Turla's voice, y'all. The crowd was great, too -- I recruited dee_ryma to come with me, even though she hadn't listened to the band before, and she enjoyed it, and while standing there during the openers (Frontier Ruckus, who were also great and had a dude who played a mean saw) I made concert-buddies with a girl who loved the band just as much as I do. The place was so small that you practically tripped over band members while leaving, and I got to talk to Adam for a minute. All in all, a fantastic night. They even played one of their covers -- INXS -- and yeah. Amazing.
