I hope all my American friends had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Mine was delicious and we had our tradional air hockey tournament afterwards, so it was a very good day.
Last night's Walking Dead was so good. I am so sad that the season is almost over because it's definitely my favorite show on TV right now. But as I was discussing with
rainpuddle13 earlier, we at least get
Game of Thrones while waiting on new Walking Dead -- GoT is looking amazing. TV has definitely been on its game lately! I approve.
Saturday night I finally saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Somehow the past few years I manage to forget exactly how much I love this series until I'm in the theater, and then it all comes rushing back to me in a giddy rush of joy, and I become completely immersed in the amazingly in-depth world JKR created. I think I'm going to do a re-read of the series. It's been long enough now that I'll be coming at it with a fresh perspective, which makes the reading more interesting.
This movie was so beautifully shot. There were so many scenes that the scenery was just so beautiful and yet added to the atmosphere the filmmakers were trying to create. I really loved how well-made this movie was and how far the kids have come as actors. Hermione was fantastic, Harry was great and Ron was sheer perfection.
The opening scene at Malfoy Manor gave me chills. It was perfection. I also LOVE their take on Malfoy Manor, cold and grand as it was. And Narcissa is growing on me. I love love love everything about Bellatrix, and Lucius the defeated man, and Draco's terror and Snape's painful refusal to acknowledge his fellow professor.
The scene where Hermione obliviates her parents was terrible to watch.
Luna was amazing, and I loved her father. I thought the Snatchers were suitably creepy, and loved how frazzled and worn Lucius looked, and Bill's scars, and Fleur's wedding dress, and the chilling scene in the Ministry where they took the locket from Umbridge, and Kreacher, and Sirius and Regulus' bedrooms, and everything about the Trio's interactions. I loved the shot of Neville standing up to the Death Eater, and how chilling Bellatrix torturing Hermione was, and how moving Dobby's death was.
The scene where Ron destroyed the Horcrux was so chilling.
I kind of can't even imagine seeing the final half of the movie on the big screen, because so much is still left and it's going to be so horrible watching the final battle.
Seeing DH has put me in the mood to read HP fic for the first time in a long while, and I've mostly been going back and reading old favorites. Does anyone have any favorite HP fics written in the past three or four years? I prefer long fic, any pairing or gen. I really like plot in my HP fic, so bonus points for plotty fic.
