An explanation/loose translation of Kinpuri's talk parts on Shibuya no Oto

May 10, 2017 01:06

This show was so much better than I expected! They got so much attention (especially Kishi) and were introduced as the top 2 Jr groups at the moment. It was so nice to see them sitting there with all these actual artists and being included in the talk and taken seriously.

At the start the presenters Tokui and Naomi talk about how great performing live is because you can get a response from the audience. Then Tokui throws it over to Mr King (he’s not sure which one they are at first). The camera focuses in on Sho but of course Ren does the talking.

Tokui: Do you find lives fun?
Ren: The best is hearing the “Kyaaaa” it feels really good
Tokui: As Johnny’s you must have heard “Kyaaa” a lot
Ren: No matter how many times I hear it, it still feels really good
Tokui: Oh really?
Ren: Like, the fans, they scream “Kyaaa” even when I’m not doing anything. They “Kyaaa” for me when I’m just walking. They like me that much so I want to give something back to them.
It sounds like Ren is being really full of himself here but he’s just super nervous.

Next they talk about the first live concert they went to see. Naomi asks Kishi about his first live (it’s so weird to hear him called Kishi san)

Kishi: It was the year before last but I went to see Paul McCartney play at Tokyo Dome. It was the first time I’d paid money by myself to go and see a concert.
Naomi: How was it?
Kishi: It was amazing! (He uses the word yabai and she laughs at him) Like he’s so ol... I mean at his age it was amazing how he performed in front of such a wide audience.
Tokui: Well he is a grandfather but people of all generations still come to watch him

Continuing the Paul McCartney talk, it turns to how Kaito also went with Kishi

Kaito: That’s right, I also went with Kishi. My agency’s senpai, Sato Shori kun took me along. I didn’t know any of his songs though.
Tokui: So you just thought there was some strange old man on the stage?
Kaito: No, no, no I’ve heard of the Beatles! But the thing that surprised me the most was during the 2 hour live he didn’t drink any water at all.
Naomi: Eh really?!
Kaito: I thought “He’s a camel!”
Then they make fun of Kai for a while because he called a universally respected musician a camel!

Nishino Kana sings her song first and obviously everyone praises her and the song

Jinguji: It totally makes you want to drive whilst listening to it. Actually I often listen to Nishino Kana san’s songs when I drive. They really help me feel cheerful and to relax, it’s like when you say “kanpai” (before you drink)
You can tell Jin is super nervous too, poor thing.

The next time they talk to Kinpuri is when they’re talking about people moving to Tokyo from their home prefectures so Sho and Ren raise their hands

Tokui: Is there anything that surprised you about Tokyo?
Ren: You know Hachiko right? (Famous dog statue in Shibuya) It’s a lot smaller than I thought!
Tokui: Yeah I totally understand!
Ren: Someone said to me let’s meet at Hachiko and I saw a dog statue in the distance but I thought that’s just the dog from Saigo Takamori’s statue! (Famous samurai who has a statue in Ueno park)

Finally Kinpuri are introduced! They all look so nervous!

Tokui calls them Mr King and also Prince. It's kind of an important distinction that he used "soshite" to show they were 2 separate groups. A VTR of Bounce To Night is shown and the narrator calls them Johnny’s anticipated new stars. Some clips of Shokura are shown and the narrator says they show fans wonderful performances and their personalities come through in the variety parts. He then says that these 2 groups are the reigning tops of the Jrs.

Naomi says the 2 groups are often on stage together and asks if there is any rivalry between them

Sho: Well 3 and 3, we’re not always together as 6. We’ll do a song (gestures with 3 fingers) and then a song (gestures with 3 fingers on his other hand) and then the last song will be the 6 of us (puts his fingers together) so there’s a feeling of we can’t lose yeah...
It was the least coherent explanation of anything that I’ve ever heard but I loved it, it confirms they still are a 6 member group sometimes.
Ren says the always glare at each other and Jin agrees that they are rivals.

Naomi asks if they’re close in private and they say they are. Then Sho mentions that most of the time they gang up on Kishi.

Sho: Usually, Kishi is the target
All: The target?
Sho: It’s usually 5 against 1
Naomi: I was worried you were just bullying him
Kinpuri: No, no, no
Naomi: So you just lovingly tease him
Tokui: It must be tough having 5 against 1
Kishi: It is!
Ren: But Kishi takes it all with a smile
Kishi: That’s how the bullying always starts!
Tokui: He’s the moodmaker right?

Next Mr King and Prince reveal catchphrases they’ve thought of themselves.

Mr King’s is “Our name is King but inside we’re kids”

Ren explains that they all have really childish sides and tells a story about how Sho was grinding up some sesame and was like “Wow imagine if I got burned from this?” Then Kaito joins in and tells them Sho thought he really could get burned from the friction, so they all did it really fast and when they told him it was hot he got scared and fell off his chair. Everyone laughs and Sho agrees he’s been bad lately and even walked into an electricity pole whilst wearing sunglasses and cut his chin.

Prince’s catchprase is “The Three Princes”

Genki translates it into Japanese but Naomi is like “Yeah...we all got it thanks...” Genki explains that they all have strong indivdual personalities and then awkwardly calls himself cute. Jin backs him up and says he’s like their mascot. Then Genki explains that Jin is the cool, handsome type and Kishi is like a comedian but Kishi says that’s rude to comedians.

Naomi asks Kishi how he makes them laugh and he says he does “monobokes” which is a gag using an everyday object. Tokui asks Kishi to do a gag using the cushion and he holds it up and is like “Everybody, look...there’s lots of stars”. It’s hillariously unfunny so Jiguiwa apologise for him and Jin explains that he’s usually better.

Next there is a VTR message from Sexy Zone.

Sou and Mari praise the fact that they can all do backflips and baton twirling etc. Shori mentions how Mr King can rollerskate whilst baton twirling and Fuma is like “Yeah well we can sing and dance at the same time!” Everyone reminds Fuma that that’s the minimum requirement for a Johnny! Fuma then tells everyone about how he went to LA with Kishi in private. Due to jet lag Kishi couldn’t sleep and kept waking Fuma up to report that the sky was getting lighter even though it was only 3AM. He said he’d wake Fuma up in time to go out the next morning but when he did they were already 2 hours late!

Kishi makes his excuses that he was too excited about the trip and Naomi says it’s OK because it’s obvious that everyone loves him.

Finally they introduce the song. Genki explains that's it's the first song they had together as a 6 member group so it's a very special song for the fans. And then they sing Katsunda WIN!! and it was beautiful!
