Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion the last of the 3-part movie is all new story while the first two parts were a re-hash of the tv anime. This movie starts with the supposed benefits of Madoka's actions from the last episode. All the magical girls are happily fighting wraiths and living a happy life. They even have happy magical girl transformations a la Sailor Moon; the ripping out of the body scene is a bit twisted, but not the only twist in this movie. Only Homura finds the life a little suspicious. The fight scenes through-out the movie are fantastic. Homura versus Mami is a nice highlight. Anyway the final transformations in the story are fitting. If Sailor Moon and Utena had a dark, evil child, this series would be it. Trudging through the first part of the series does make the latter part more effective. I enjoy the fact that Homura didn't accept the simple (magical girl trope) way out and rather embraces her darkness. ~9/10 rating
