Hot weekend
From Up on Poppy Hill jmovie! is the Ghibli movie released last year. Set before the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the country is getting itself readyto host by getting rid of the old and building the new. A group of students protest having their clubhouse torn down. A young female studentand a male student bond over naval signal flags. It's very sweet until it got unnecessarily Marmalade Boy on me, but no worries, there's a happy ending. Goro Miyazaki strives for pure human drama in this, but the overall Ghibli magic is missing. ~7/10 rating~
Hunter x Hunter 2012 37! Gon and Killua visit Gon's home. Mito tells Gon about Ging. In the previous version of the anime, Ging married Mito's sister who died after Gon's birth. In this version, true to the manga, Mito is Ging's cousin and she knows nothing of Gon's mother.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita 1! Again, Japan proves that it can make anything cute...even headless chickens...

Quick impression~ A young girl is the designated mediator between humans and fairies. There's a food shortage. The girls who weresupposed to slaughter the village chickens let the chickens escape. The men failed to catch anything while hunting. Canned food isdistributed from the mysterious FairyCo. This is one of those anime that isn't what it appears. The whole atmosphere is that of a pastel,happy fairytale world, but this show is more like Kino no Tabi or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei than fluff. The pink-haired main character (who has no name) has a refreshingly wry, sarcastic side; I like her comment about the old women in the village. And the social commentaryabout the slaughter of animals and processed food was somewhat funny. Another positive is the toy potential...
