New fall anime - part four

Do we really need 6 fansubbers for Tales of the Abyss? I guess I now know how popular the game was. :)

Watching some more random anime:

Shikabane Hime 1! Wanted to hear angela's new music. They do the opening and closing, but the first episode only features the closing song.

- mediocre animation
+ angela
- Standard girl with gun action?
- lame monster designs

Quick summary ~ A boy finds a dead girl in his house's shrine room, and witnesses his 'brother' reviving her. There's a talking cat. The brother is actually a Buddhist priest who takes care of a few orphans at his place. He and the girl are helping the police hunt down 'Shikabane' which are living corpses. The girl is also a Shikabane.

Quick impression ~ Despite the small areas of attempted comedy, there really was not anything outstanding about this anime. I think if I want to see living-dead girls, I might stick with Mouryou no Hako.

Yozakura Quartet 1! Saw the opening on Youtube and it looked nice.

+ Great opening visuals. Colorful and crisp.
+ 'Hip' production (similar to Soul Eater's production) and story premise
+ Cute characters

Quick summary ~ A group of teenagers with powers protect a town from youkai that do bad things. In the first episode, a human possessed by a youkai is terrorizing females at night.

Quick impression ~ The show is very well-made with strong, likable characters. It lacks any type of fanservice, but I could probably enjoy watching this. Oh wait, it does have 2 cute characters with ears...I guess that is fanservice. I'll give it a couple more episodes to hook me.

shibakane hime, yozakura quartet, anime
