Amatsuki 1! Fukujun plays an apathetic, but polite high schooler who has a funny sounding name, Tokidoki Rikugo. Based on the manga by Shinobu Takayama, the anime attracted me because the manga art was pretty.
- The op/ed song and visuals are fitting, but bland songs with a mixture of traditional asian instrumentation thrown in.
- Studio Deen's trademark cheap animation carrys on.
- Attractive character designs are butchered most of the time.
+ Interesting scenario
- and uninteresting dialogue make me sorta sleepy.
+ Fukujun & Romi Paku...yay?
Quick summary ~ Toki puts on a pair of VR goggles to experience Edo, loses half his eyesight to a Nue/lion-beast-thing, meets some people and realizes his goggles broke a couple seconds back.
Quick opinion ~ I lost interest in the manga despite how pretty it looked and how interesting it sounded. I still have hope that the anime could do better, so I'll attempt a couple more episodes...well, at least to see some more pretty characters.
Macross F 1 again! Already popped in my two-cents before, but wanted to review it again especially since episode 1 contained some edits. Didn't mention this before, but the outer space fight felt very much like Star Wars right down to the bgm. The 3D and 2D mixed mechs are colorful flashy toys that are enjoyable to watch. From the opening, it looks like Sheryl and Ranka's connection will be something the anime will focus on. Even though they added that concert scene, I can't really picture a romantic connection with Alto and any female character....haha, since he looks so much like a girl much to his dismay. I thought the Zentradi were always an integral part of the Macross franchise, but I didn't see any Zentradi-like characters in the opening or episode...the enemy mechs were bug-shaped. Anyway, great stuff.
