we stopped the car so i could pee several times and arrived at 10pm
my first time passing the waterfalls of yosemite was in moonlight
and they were endless - waterfalls are frigging amazing
we walked for a long time talking nonsense
i hit my stride at 3am and carried the conversation for that stretch
at the base of the last climb we all put on gloves (the sun was coming) and, gripping the heavy wires the park service had put up we dragged ourselves to the top
and people looked like pilgrims with their lights
and i napped waiting for the sun to come over the ridge and warm my bones, which it did
