Auspicious. Free Write #13, in the month of October. I wonder what that’ll mean for the story. Or for the readers of the story, hmm?

The Bag
“Treat or Trick!” Marvin yelled as the door opened. The teen who opened the door, dressed up as no particular supernatural creature save for perhaps a succubus given the amount of skin she was exposing, flinched and stared for a moment at the boy. He was dressed rather nicely in slacks and a button up shirt but was holding out a severed head. The head’s mouth served as a hole for the treats and it’s hair was woven into a brain that served as the handle. In his free hand he held what looked to be a bloody knife.
“Oh um. Nice um… bag.” the girl said, dropping a handful of assorted treats into the severed head’s mouth. Marvin grinned up at her.
“Thanks! Made it this morning especially for tonight.” To prove his point, Marvin lifted the knife and made a slashing motion. The blood drained out of the girl’s face and she closed the door without saying good bey. He heard the lock click and the porch light went out. Giggling he lept off the porch and scurried to the next house, bag swinging back and forth, candy spilling out of its mouth.
Renaming behind, on the porch, no longer illuminated by the porch light, were several specs of blood.

Short and sweet. This one was a little gruesome but we were kind of expecting that right? Halloween/All Hallows Eve is just right around the corner!
