Chapter Four: The Chariot:
I looked and noticed a picture of a girl and myself as teenagers in an open field. I didn’t start this business alone, you know? I had a really good friend come and help me.
Her name was Leona. She has been my friend since we were little kids. She’s the one who gave me the idea for the company in the first place. The born of Royal Airs started our junior year of high school. I was bored in class one day and started drawing airplanes. Leona leaned over my shoulder and watched my hands more across the paper. She jotted down a little note and passed it to me.
What are you drawing?
I smiled and wrote back to her. My babies.
Puzzled, Leona wrote back. Your babies?
Yes, I want to fly them one day.
After class, we talked more about my drawings. Leona tilted her head at me.
“What do you mean you want to fly them?” she asked. I sat back on the grass, smiling.
“I’m going to fly them,” I said, “All of them.” Leona blinked at me.
“But how?” she asked.
“I want to start an airline company later on in life,” I said. I waited to see if she would laugh at me, but instead she looked at me intently.
“Go on,” she said. I reached into my backpack and pulled out my notes on my company idea. Leona read over them for herself.
“You have a good start,” she said, “May I throw in some suggestions.”
“Sure,” I said. Leona picked up a pen and started making notes on my pages. I read over them amazed.
“Leona,” I said, “You’re good at this.”
“My father is a business man,” she told me, “I loved everything from him.” I don’t know why I asked this, but it just fell out of my mouth at the time.
“Will you help me make this company a reality?” I asked. Leona looked at me as she gasped.
“You mean it?” she asked. I took her by the hands.
“I don’t think I can do it without you,” I admitted. She nodded at me with a big smile on her face.
“Of course!” she said, “I’ll do it!” Leona became my chariot from that moment on. Through college, personal relationships, unsteady starts, and rocky back-stabbing Royal Airs now celebrated its twenty-fifth year of success. I own it all to my Chariot friend for guiding me the whole way to this point. However, some events rather complicated things behind her and the fool that is known as me. The first was the woman that I labeled as the Lovers back in college. I really didn’t understand how Leona felt about me until we had an argument earlier today and she walked away from me possibly for good.
