I don't believe Peggy Sue is really talking about her father in Cole Porter's song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy." And the whole song makes me a little sad because I am not sure I should sing it. If I sing it with my family they think "Meg's a little Freudian" and if I sing it with my friends they're thinking "umm she calls men 'Daddy'." So I'm stuck. And let's face it folks we're living in a society that can't let that go. Or maybe it's only our generation. But I can't accidentally have a Freudian slip and call someone "Dad" that isn't my father. Yes it's funny. But let's not think it's wierd. Don't we have enough behavior in this world that actually is odd? Now I'm pretty sure we're just looking for trouble. I always felt for the kid who accidentally called the teacher "mom" in the second grade, but really how far off were they? Here's a woman who feeds us, makes us use the restroom, and teaches us how to write in a (hopefully) loving way. She basically does what a mom is supossed to do. Which is why so many parents are lazy, I think. Some people really have to send their children off to school but there are some that I really believe do it just to get the kids off their backs for eight hours of the day. So the schools are overcrowded and the kids are unhappy and the teachers fantacize about just walking out of the class room without saying a word during morning announcements.

I'm homeschooling my children.

I have too many friends who believe in the school system not to apologize but I just felt like writing this. Nothing personal. And people do take it personal. I've had people become angry about homeschooling. Well this isn't Communist Russia thrity years ago buddy and we can do what we want with our kids. And people abuse everything, the school system and homeschooling.
