I know society is dumb, but this just hit me as really pathetic
I was flicking channels and stopped on Family Fued until 6pm. OK, its a pretty stupid show, but they do have a section where the contestants answers are compared to answers from a 'random public survey'. Tonight, one of the questions was "Name a mythical creature with wings". Now there's a couple of obvious ones that sprung to mind, dragon, pegasus, griffin, HOWEVER the number 1 answer from the 'random survey' was none of these. I was shocked. Did Joe Sixpack really think of a more common mythical creature than these? Had I missed some obvious creature? Apprently not. The most common answer given for "A mythical creature with wings"...
