ahhh, BitTorrent. I downloaded the studio version of "Whores" that Trent Reznor posted, it is indeed mighty fine, but doing so reminded me that I had tried to download a huge collection of GG Allin albums a while back. It finished downloading and now I'm waltzing down Memory Lane listening to GG Allin albums that I bought on cassette and vinyl in the late eighties and early nineties, along with a few of the approximately five hundred billion GG albums and bootlegs I never bought, including stuff like the songs he recorded over the phone from prison and crappy-sounding live shows.
GG is one of my guiltier guilty pleasures, up there with the Mentors. As someone whose bookish, non-risk-taking historian/writer side has become more and more dominant over my crazed performance artist/lead singer who tapes fireworks to himself and lights them side, it's nice to have a bit of that vicarious look into someone with a totally out-of-control id like GG. If only because it's kind of good to know that I don't have to be that guy.
