Lucky Guy

I know I haven't been posting here at all for quite a while, but I have been reading consistently and I keep up on what my friends are doing.

I'm currently in St. Maarten working on a cruise ship and while I was having lunch on the island I decided it was about time to post something and catch up.

I'm not always known for being a glass half full kind of guy, at least I don't think I am. If anything I'm probably a bit of a curmudgeon. The thing is, internally I tend to have a pretty positive outlook. I was again reminding myself how lucky I am. Many of you know that the past few years have not been easy, but even when things are bad, I tend not to let that paint my overall outlook. The year that my dad died was bad, but even then I couldn't count that year as a net loss.

Here's some of the things that I can't believe add up to my life:

I've got the most beautiful and amazing wife I could ever ask for. Seriously.

My business has been growing despite the bad economy.

I have some of the most amazing people working for me that I could ever ask for.

My friends are truly top notch. We watch out for each other, and amuse ourselves to no end.

Those people who work for me, and my friends, are not two mutually exclusive groups.

I've had amazing travel over the past few years. It's hard being away from home and my wife, but really I've had some great trips. Orlando more times than I can count, New York, Toronto, Connecticut, Seattle, Juneau, Skagway, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Jamaica, Curacao, Tortola, Nassau, Cozumel, Mazatlan, Puetro Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Amsterdam, Southampton, and I know the list is even longer, but those are the places that hop quickly to mind, and that's all in the last couple of years.

My clients are solid and tend to treat me well. I look at the companies I work with, and I am so lucky with the business relationships that I have.

Kristin and I have four wonderful pets. While I will always miss Zoe, I'm so glad to meet our new additional Kaylee when I get home tomorrow, and I can't wait to have a pile of cats on me.

So yeah, I'm very fortunate, and believe it or not I try to never forget it.
