Ah, Biringer, you make theory so much fun. When Don Giovanni failed to woo a peasant bride in the key of A major, with a sweet little aria, he decided, "if I can't get her in A, I'll modulate to E!!" and successfully takes her away from her wedding.
Today we studied more phrase extensions and listened to much Chopin. ahhhhhh, wow. so I just spent a good hour learning his Valse Posthumous (op 69 no.2). such beauty, my god.
I get to hear the New York Phil (and thus, New York's Phil Smith) play Mahler 5 next Wednesday. I am SO EXCITED!!!!! the new york philharmonic, phil smith, Loren Maazel, Mahler!! and me. SO AWESOME! for a first time to Chicago, I could not ask for more.
