There's a really interesting program right now on PBS, called The Complete Jane Austen. It's from a few months ago, when they started the Jane Austen marathon back in January, explaining who Austen is and why she is so popular and giving sneak peaks at the TV adapations from the marathon they were going to have.
There's nothing in it that I really didn't already know, but it was so funny when they asked the Andrew Davis, who adapted three of the books (including Pride and Prejudice) to television, what would Austen think about the fact that in our times it is possible to find a husband online.
His response was along the lines that she would pick up on it very quickly, but would have issues with the fact that it would be impossible to find out for sure the guy's income. It's such a simple point, that it made me laugh.
I think I might pop in my copy of Pride and Prejudice later tonight. All of the clips of Colin Firth diving into the lake is a bit to much to resist :D
