Things that have surprised me in the past week:
1. I did not get the Horatio Hornblower DVDs as requested. Really, I asked for four things for Christmas, and I didn't get this one. No worries, I went out and bought them for myself. Also, by this point, I'm sure older sister is absolutely sick of hearing it.
2. Going to Atlanta was not that bad. I mean, the trip down was decent, with minimal amounts of fighting. When we got there, it wasn't too terribly awkward as we were put to work, and my cousins aren't actually as bad as I remembered. Of course, last time I saw them was three years ago, when we 12, 13, 14, and 16 (plus some others), but it was still surprising. Also, I was able to talk to my oldest cousin, who is 27, and am no longer as ridiculously awkward around any of them.
3. My uncle, who is training to become a priest, actually spoke. Not only that, but he made jokes. I have probably heard about three sentences from him each time that we visited, so it was really, really weird to actually here him talk. Not as much as a normal person would, but about certainly not abnormally little
4. The number of noises my 15 year old cousin can make. I'm actually really jealous of his squirrel noise.
5. How much I don't want to deal with college. I mean, I've always kind of known that, but when we went to visit Emory, my dad kept saying all these really helpful things and pointing things out, but I really, really did not want to listen. It was not something I wanted to deal with. I was okay with walking around the campus, but not any of my father's comments. He knows what he is talking about way more than I do, but I did not want his insight at all because I don't want to think it's something I actually have to think about.
Mmm, yes.
