Well you can, but it takes a lot of time and effort to train your hand to draw what you see or imagine. But I've also found that wittiness trumps skill. XKCD being the greatest example of that, lol.

http://www.xkcd.com its a stick-figure comic strip filled with nerdy jokes. We discussed it in one of my art classes though, like even though its stick-figures and text, the art community still recognizes it as a real good comic.
