[Point of time in canon from which the character is taken] During episode 15, when she’s still stuck and trapped in the ship and freaking out xD
[Background info] Liz is the older sister of the Thompson sisters, the younger sister being Patty. They both used to live in Brooklyn and used to live on the streets, robbing people by utilizing their abilities as weapons. Like her sister, Liz is a weapon and can transform into a pistol. They are able to use one another and can transform freely mid-battle to alternate. It is because of their tag-teaming, and the fact that when in pistol form they are identical in appearance, that the shinigami Death the Kid chooses them to be his weapons. Both of them are actually kind of grateful for Kid since he saved them from a group of thugs and also admire his soul, seeing it as very dignified compared to their lifestyle. As Kid also respects the two sisters, all three are able to cooperate and work well together. Liz often looks back to their old days in a nostalgic yet somewhat negative light. That is to say, she prefers her current life over her past.
Kid later requests to join the Shibusen academy, and since then all three have been attending classes, making friends with Maka, Soul, Black Star, and Tsubaki. When not helping out in missions, Liz goes out shopping and just lives the life of your typical teenage girl.
From the point in time that I’m taking her out, the threesome are in the middle of a mission investigating a coastal town that had been attacked by what the people call "the Black Dragon", which Kid later observes to be a ship and is called Nidhogg. After exploring the empty ship, they find a room where a mass of souls are collected, but before they can do anything, the captain (Davey Jones spoof anyone? >O>), attacks and Liz is dropped down into the hull of the ship, separating her from the group. Much to her complete, utter, omfg-do-not-want-PLZLETTHEREBENOGHOSTS dismay, she finds herself being led by the ghost of a girl to find a way out.
[Personality] As the older sister, she is more mature and coolheaded…except when it comes to anything related to ghosts/spooky things. She pretty much freaks out and hides behind her younger sister (it’s like me with roaches DDDD:). Otherwise, she’s pretty much like a teenage girl: enjoys shopping, make-up, keeping up appearance, score some with some hot guys.
She does have issues with Kid’s obsession with symmetry, and usually fails tries to talk him out of it. In the end, she has to put up with it, and whenever he goes into his stupid needless bouts of symmetrical depression, she is the first to try and comfort him. She also plays along with the whole deal and is usually the one who is doing what Kid instructs, mostly so that she can get it done and over with and not have to put up with his angsting.
You could consider Liz as the sort of second in command of the trio. Whenever Kid loses it or gets distracted, she tries to bring him back to focus. Keyword: try. You could also say that she more or less lives up to the "big sister" role and looks after both Kid and Patty. She’s also kind of laid back, or at least gives that sort of vibe when you look at her.
[Abilities] She can turn into a pistol and instead of bullets, she fires soul energy from the wielder, who can be either Patty or Kid. Any souls she collects go into the magazine of the gun. When she’s with Patty, they can go into Soul Resonance with Kid and perform a powerful attacked called the Death Cannon. Both she and Patty transform into giant arm cannons when this occurs.
…I really don’t know if she can do this by herself, I think Kid’s Soul Resonance would be kind of off since he would be all "I CAN’T FIGHT WITH JUST ONE ;O;" >_>;
[Other important facts] She’s wearing a cowboy outfit and wears jeans (unlike her sister who wears shorts). She also has a small bust and DOES NOT LIKE any mention of it, especially compared to her overly compensated little sister. She’s also pretty tall. And has long hair.
And this isn’t exactly important, but I thought this was a cool fact that I figured out on my own (rather, it hit me the moment I heard their name xD) and wanted to shaaaaaare :O Liz’s last name “Thompson” is probably derived from the submachine gun, the Thompson, otherwise known as the "Tommy gun", that were used a lot in the good old gangster days in America :O The Tommy guns are often used when depicting gangsters back in the Prohibition and Depression era (so in the ‘30s-‘40s). Considering that Liz and Patty were gangster in Brooklyn - and the creator seems to like using witty puns like that in naming his characters and stuff - this is probably very likely, even though they have appearance of normal handgun pistols. HISTORY CHANNEL DOCUMENTARY ON GUNS FTW >_>; The rate they fire and the unnecessary need to "reload", however, still gives the girls the sense of a sub-machine gun xD I don’t know if Liz’s name is a reference to anything (*can’t recall any female gangsters named Elizabeth or Patricia*), but her last name is at least :O
