I used to wonder why a Umeda, an orthopedist doctor specializing in athlete's injuries chose to work in an all boys boarding school. Of course it's because a. boys school means no contact with females (icky icky ick ick) b. he's too lazy to work in a hospital or a clinic. c. so much delicious drama.
The downside to that is that he needs to constantly deal with teenagers, which he obviously hate for being so stupid, and that it makes him uncomfortable working in his own old school with all the painful memories of his own teenage years that come with it.
I wonder what Nanba "devil child" Minami used to blackmail his uncle into driving him around town. Also, ♥ to the Umeda family love for flashy cars.

It's always hilarious to me how the entire Umeda family doesn't want anyone to know they're actually all related to each other, and that every single on of them is convinced that they are too young to be an uncle, aunt, a parent and a grandparent. Okay, in Rio's case, she's actually younger then Nanba, who's her Nephew.
What do you mean 'in spite'? Like he didn't get his techniques from watching you pick up beautiful men in the park, when you were supposed to be babysitting him? No, actually, I doubt Umeda-sensei's techniques were this tacky - well, maybe, he was very young when Minami was a kid.
Lol, then he was all 'hey, what's up?' to her - I was waiting for him to go 'hold on, that's the woman I introduced to my nephew when I was in university and he was in middle school, only to have them fall in love and have gross illegal sex with each other, ONLY to have her disappear on him without a word and break his heart.
'ugh, a little advice from your uncle, Minami - when you have an underclassman who has unrequited love for you when you're in high-school - if you don't kill him then, he will come back to hunt you when you're an adult. Let me change out of my new shoes, and I will actually help you hide the body. Unlike mine back then, this one is tiny - shouldn't be that hard.'
Goddamn it, why didn't we get a flashback scene to younger Minami and Umeda-sensei in their grandparents/parents house, then later of Minami looking for Kanako all over town in the rain to be eventually stopped by Umeda, who was kind to him in his own way over the whole ordeal? That story-arch was beautiful in the manga.
I'm not going to rant about anything not closely related to the Umedas, as that's the only thing I'm emotionally invested in. So have some pictures instead! Oh, and I'd like to add that Maeda Atsuko's posture is horrendous. I spend every scene with her in it wanting to punch her in the back to make her stand up straight. I don't remember if this was a problem in other dramas I've watched with her, but I'm going to assume that there's no way she could get away with having terrible posture as an actress, and that's just her being a guy. But I'm not going to go into how ridiculous and terrible most of the acting in this HanaKimi is.
