I feel the events of yesterday warrant a post into my journal. While John does not like to be mentioned in my journal, he is just going to have to put up with this one. So, here goes:
About a week ago, John mentioned the idea that we should have lunch at Donatos Pizza for our four year anniversary which was yesterday, November 11, 2008. Donatos was chosen because we met while working there. Anyway, I cried like a baby at this because I thought it was so sweet for him to even think of that. Finally, Tuesday the 11th comes and we leave the house around 10:45. John had already called in the pizza which I thought was so it would be ready for us since he had to go to work only 2 hours later.
Once we arrive at Donatos, John asks me to pick a booth while he pays. Soon after seating, a good plenty of people come in and John starts acting nervous. His hands were shaking, his stomach was aching, and he was saying how he wished there weren't so many people. I felt like something was going to happen, but I didn't want to get my hopes up too high. So, our pizza comes and we eat. La-de-dah. A bit later, John says he has to go to the bathroom and as he makes his way, the MOD calls out his name to talk to him. Even more curious. As we go to leave, John picks up a second pizza that he says he got to save for later. I figured this was reasonable as Donatos pizza is very tasty and we don't get it as often as we would like.
Once home, John takes the pizzas into the kitchen and flops the lid off the second pizza and asks me, "Jamie, what does that pizza say?" I seriously could not believe my eyes when I read "Will U Marry Me?" I started crying and 'oh my god'ing while John gets down on one knee and pulls out a black box. He takes my hand and asks "Jamie Noel Ballard, will you marry me?" I spout out yes and place the ring on my finger.
Turns out, John had told the people at Donatos to bring out the proposal pizza first, instead of the pizza we were supposed to eat so that he could ask me in the restaurant. When they messed it up, was when he had started to freak out and just decided to take the proposal pizza home. During this, John's mom and sister were sitting across 31 waiting for John to call after he had asked. When he didn't call and they saw that the car was gone, they called John who said "It didn't work out. I'll call you back later." So now they start freaking out that I had said no and call John's dad to tell him that I had said no. Luckily, that was not the case and they were called and informed after the question was asked.
I do hate things didn't work out how John had planned because it really was a sweet idea, but it sure does make for a good story to tell.
