Beejer Boy

Well, it's over, he's not hurting any more. My sister Sheila came and picked Beej up yesterday and took him to her vet for me to have him put to sleep. His appointment was at 3:30. By the time she picked him up, he had been in a coma-like state since about 10am, barely breathing. I held him a long while and talked to him before she got there, telling him what a good dog he had been.
I hope Sassy doesn't grieve herself to death over him being gone.
I found out from his 'Grandma Vicki'(she owned his parents and actually gave him the name Beej-a long story in itself) that he was born on New Year's 1990, so he wasn't quite as old as I thought.
But, 16 1/2 is still pretty old for a dog.
I miss him a lot, and my eyes are a mess from the crying bouts, but I know he doesn't hurt anymore, that's the main thing.
I dug a hole and buried him in a 'shoebox coffin' in the back yard.
The vet handled the arrangements assuring us that the bag he was put in before being put in the box will keep animals from finding him.
