----------------------------
Today was a long day.
One long ass day.
We spent the majority of the day getting everything set up.
After all the amps and drums were up and mic’d, we worked on tones.
We got the guitar tones pretty perfect right away, surprisingly.
Normally that part takes a long time.
But today it was the drums that took a while to get tones on.
After about an hour or so of messing with things, we got a sound we were happy with.
Then the fun shit started.
We got our monitors set up.
That took a little bit to get the mixes right, since we’re recoding live.
And by recording live, I mean we’re all recording at the same time.
It’s pretty intense.
We tracked a couple rough takes of “clockwork.”
It was really sloppy.
We definitely were not on top of our game at that point.
But it was also around 8pm and none of us had eaten since 10am.
So we were tired and hungry.
We also are going to try to re-work the intro.
We have some cool ideas, but we’ll see how they pan out.
After the studio we went over to another studio.
Where we met up with Motion City Soundtrack.
It was really cool to see those guys again.
And it was nice of them to let us hear a couple tracks off their new record.
And their new songs sound great.
The vocals sound absolutely flawless.
We heard some very rough mixes, so I’m excited to hear the final thing.
Patrick from Fall Out Boy was there too.
He did some guest vocals on one of the tracks.
He was super nice.
We were all super tired so we decided to call it a day.
Now we’re at Chris’s place.
Nothing like a nice cold concrete floor to sleep on.
Forrest and Claudio are already asleep.
Chris and JT are watching Pirates of the Caribbean.
And I think I’m gonna go wacth Kiera Knightley for a bit, then crash.
