Yesterday, while browsing through Google Books, I tripped across
a section from the book
Rebuilt: How Becoming Part Computer Made Me More Human. The book is the memoir of author Michael Chorost's experience with deafness and acclimating to a cochlear implant. His account of the cochlear implant experience from the "other side" makes for compelling reading, especially for a parent of an implanted child.
Chorost has recently received his second implant, which he chronicles
on his blog. That's a forum I'll be keeping my eye on.
