YOUR SKILLS WITH TORTILLONS ARE FAR GREATER THAN MY SKILLS WITH THEM. Granted, the last time I used a tortillon was when I was in eighth grade, so maybe I should give them another try.
YEAH I HAVEN'T TOUCHED THESE BAD BOYS SINCE LIKE. DRAWING II CLASS IN MY FRESHMAN COLLEGE YEAR...idk I still feel a little "eh" with it. Then again, this kinda shit would look better if I was using more than one pencil weight amirite :|a
LOL, AT LEAST YOU HAVE DRAWING CLASSES BEHIND YOUR BELT. Last time I took an actual art class was back in middle school, because once I hit high school, I couldn't fit art in because I finished high school in three years. AND NOW THAT I'M AT UNI, I can't take an art class either because my major's requirements max out all my allowable credits. And while I LOVE drawing, I mostly have to learn on my own, through trial and error. GET IT WRONG THREE TIMES, PRAY YOU GET IT RIGHT THE FOURTH TIME.
And yeah, probably! I remember using tortillons with charcoal pencil drawings. It'd probably look amazing if you used some softer pencils in the dark areas and blended them in. BUT LOL, WHAT AM I SAYING, I ONLY EVER USE MY BFF THE MECHANICAL PENCIL, SO. What is pencil weight.
Oh man that's unfortunate. :( Do you think there'll be a spot opened up for you eventually to try a drawing class? They're really handy (even if drawing chairs and bikes is annoying as HALE). But shoot, you get good by doing, in and out of a studio so power to you. :|b
Aa pencil weight is like...how on every test people use 2B pencils? There's different weights like F, H, 2H, B, etc...F is really effin' light and 8B is like the darkest pencil you can get. So you can get lots and lots of tones that way. :V I have a set somewhere but damned if I can remember where I put them in this hideous room. They were v handy.

You're already a better artist thatn 88% of the internetz.
You're certianly better than a good half of the 'professionals' I've seen at shows.
Keep at it. When you're awesome you will then just explode onto the scene, and no one will know what hit them.

But thank you for your encouragement!

But when you're looking at the web it means you are playing on the world stage.
Things get a might differnt when you scale down to say, Edenburgh University post-graduate art show.
