(no subject)
Something strange is happening - I slowly become 'meh' about most tv shows. The new ones I get interested in get cancelled, the old ones cease to really interest me.
It's sad. Doctor Who and Heroes are probably two shows that actually make me squee, and CSI:NY, Supernatural and House remain interesting. The rest? MEH.
Very sad.
It might be just a phase, but I think I need to take a slight break and get back to my first love, books. Because I really hadn't been doing as much reading as I used to... It used to be a book a day. Now, maybe one a week, sometimes two. Sad, sad, SAD.
Starting with re-reading old childhood favourites... It might be a good idea, or a very bad idea, it remains to be seen. But 'A Little Princess' really wants me to write Tom/Ralph slash.

Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
We don't really have that much of a distinction in Poland. I mean, we do have hardbacks and paperbacks, but it just depends on the publishing house... We don't get hardback first, and then, a while later, paperback. We just get one edition. And maybe later a new edition in different covers...
When buying books in English, however, I prefer hardback, probably because we don't get that in Poland all that much :D.
Barnes & Noble or Borders?
HA! I wish. Nope, wrong country again. Empik, I suppose, would be the Polish equivalent. Like it, prefer small bookshops though, especially those dealing in importing British and American literature, like Massolit or American Bookstore.
Bookmark or dog-ear?
BOOKMARK. Dog-ear one of my books and I shall smite you.
Amazon or brick and mortar?
Huh? Never bought anything on Amazon, as it charges as much for delivery to Poland as it does to Etiopia. Seriously...
Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
I have a system. System changes from time to time, but right now it goes as follows:
Genres, by authors within the genres, by series in the authors, chronologically in the series. If Author dabbles in various genres, a different shelf, alphabetically by author. Series written by many authors (Star Wars novels, for example), a different shelf. Not-read books - different shelf, sorted by the order in which I shall read them.
Of course, it gets dissolved after a while, because I start to read books, and they pile up on my desk/coffee table/by the bed/everywhere... Which reminds me, I should rearrange them soon. YAY. *loves rearranging books*
Keep, throw away, or sell?
Give away, from time to time. I buy books all the time, and sometimes on impulse, and I find that I don't really care for one book or the other. I give them to people who might be interested.
Keep dust jacket or toss it?
Keep.
Read with dust jacket or remove it?
Usually, remove. From time to time, keep. I don't think there's a pattern to this.
Short story or novel?
Novels. I do buy anthologies, sometimes, but I like something long to sink my teeth into.
Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Potter.
Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
Stop reading when I can stop reading :D. Some books, that means, at any moment I feel like taking a break. Some books... not until I finish them.
"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
Both. I love cliches, and every book starting with one has my undivided attention, at least for the first page, so I can see how it deals with said cliche.
Buy or borrow?
Buy. I like to *own* the book. Borrow only when I can't buy it. Or when people tell me 'you have to read it, and I don't really think it will be good.
New or used?
Both. Love the new books' smell, of course, but also adore well cared for old books.
Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
All of the above. And because I like the author, and because the cover is nice, and because the blurb is interesting, and because I've seen a guy read it on the bus and looked over it shoulder and it looked good, and because... Because.
Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Cliffhanger is fine, if I know there will be a continuation. Nothing against open endings, as long as much of the plot/intrigue/romance/anything has been resolved. Like clear endings. Love happy endings after angst.
Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?
All of the above.
Stand-alone or series?
Both.

Discworld. YES.
Favorite children's book?
The Secret Garden.
Favorite YA book?
I think Mediator series by Meg Cabot.

HA. Noelka, by Malgorzata Musierowicz. Christmas' tale from her Jezycjada series. Very underrated. And come. on. 'Noelka' - 'Noelia'. Hee.
