Ruminations on my fic

Jul 16, 2009 01:31

So anyways, the fic I am working on is supposed to all gen, all friendships and hijinks.

Here's the central premise:

It's been 15 months since the commision of the Enterprise to their first mission, and they headed back to Earth for supplies and of course a much needed shore leave. This would also function as a political tool- showing off the Flagship, showing that['s young crew is capable and competent.

The Command crew is strained. Chekov has had a hell of way to grow up. Sulu is exhausted, and finds that he wants to further his education. Uhura is in her element, but is beginning to realise that being Chief Comm Officer should have more responisbility, more credit and perhaps she should take Command training. McCoy is finding his own niche as a researcher- and importantly, as man starting again.

And then there s Kirk and Spock. They have had a great deal of success; however their personalities really do clash. Unlike the TOS timeline, when both men are a little older and more sure of themselves, Kirk and spock really do clash, like spots and plaid. Thee are feelings there that are all too easily trampled by both, none willing to apologize. Kirk feels as if he must shoulder all the duties of command by himself; Spock feels that his command and other life experience is too easily dismissed. Kirk is offended by Spock's snideness and his growing disregard outside the Bridge. Spock is deeply offended by Kirks wilingness to risk his life, sometimes over seemingly trivial matters, and this disregard then taps into Spock's own psychocultural and spiritual beliefs, causing him pain and conflict.

Then there is the incident on the planet known as Kiowan, or Planet 7 in the Beta Centauria System .

We open into that the story about 3 weeks after the incident, on the way to Earh about 5 days out from Sol.

I am thinking about having side stories as well, reflect the POVs of Pike, Turner, Sarek and Number One (Yay!).

Any notes, suggestions, tips I should know about I would love to hear about them.

uhura, late night, fiction, kirk, rambling, spock
