PC Pics- Have You Seen Me Modified

Am I the only one frightened by the fact that with digital pictures.. the most important and common identification factor humans have, their image, can be completely but believably transformed? EVEN WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT? We used to say, We have proof, look at this photo.. but now, photos are worth nothing as proof. Even video footage can be modified so that you would not know the difference... If we had the sense of smell like a dog, we could differentiate that way. If we had hypersensitive ears, we could tell by voice.
However I suppose even those things can be counterfeited...
