Recommiting to once a week...

...so feel free to poke me gently with a sharp stick if I don't share a blog post here every seven days or so.

I'm going to be an exhibitor at a health & living expo geared at folks 50+ next week. I wasn't sure what the heck I was going to use for a visual until I hatched this plan. I found two big dollhouses with a bunch of furniture via craigslist and ebay. I'm going to use them to set up rooms showing downsizing ideas, piles of "stuff" that can be sold, thus turning clutter into cash, or donation-worthy items, maybe some overcrowded rooms that present safety issues...I'm hoping to use little signs throughout the houses to make some points, offer tips, etc. to entice people to spent time in our booth. Candy - we'll have candy, and I got new brochures and business cards printed to hand out.

Oh! Thanks for your help with my survey earlier, and a special thanks to bookglowwurm for her suggestion to blend two of the choices into one. On the bottom of the business card, it now says: Providing solutions for organizing your home, your office, your life. And on the back, we shortened the mission statement to read: Our mission is to help clients create a home or work environment that is functional, visually pleasing, reduces stress, and meets their current needs.

Hubby and I finally got away for a little vacation. We're such homebodies we rarely travel. We went to Longmeadow, MA to celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary of dear friends. Their kids threw a surprise party and we were part of the surprise. We left early Saturday morning to arrive for the noon-time gathering, and stayed until Tuesday. It really was good to get away, and their son got us a great rate at the Sheraton in Springfield where he works.

Sweet jeezus, this is as boring a post as I think I've ever written. Ok, it's midnight and I was totally ready for bed at least two hours ago, but still...this reads like a fifth grade book report. Don't, however, feel the need to chime in with, "On the contrary, nodressrehersal, you've written LOTS of posts that were WAY more boring than this."

Here, have a stunningly beautiful and simple song by Amanda Shires, wife of Jason Isbell - two incredible singer-songwriters.

The drop and lift
the drop and lift
of hearts in chests,
of in and out
and out and in
and out of love again.

Sunset. The sky gets pink and bruised
over Canyon Lakes
the same color a heart aches...

What the heck, have another one - this one is so darkly funny. Bulletproof

Tiger Bill gave me a tiger claw
From a real Siberian tiger's paw.
He said, "This'll make you bulletproof."...

Would bulletproof include bows and arrows,
hatchets and hammers,
bandoleers full of ammo?
Anything from hacksaws to hand grenades?

And maybe folks would line up, show up armed
Excited for a person to try their weapons on,
and we could charge money.
We could charge a whole lot of money.

life, writing, work
