so I'm currently on week 2 of 7 of my europe adventure...
I started out in Dublin...
green, drunks, rain
best site: Jameson distillery (i got 6 free shots for volunteering)
then to Belfast (Norther Ireland)...
not really much to do, very cold, windy, everything closes early
best site: Giant's Causeway
London...
super rainy, very cool castles, expensive, good transportation system (true for most of europe)
best site: Stonehenge, Tower bridge, & Bath
Paris...
not at friendly, not as expensive, crepes & paninis rule the world, most people dress much nicer here
best site: eiffel tower & catacombs
Cologne (Germany)...
perfect weather, i was only there for less than a day but that's as long as you'll need to see everything
best site: the Dom
Berlin...
super cloudy (but not cold), kebabs are the best here (at least better than Australia & Ireland kebabs), less expensive than the other places, lots of drinking in the trains
best site: berlin wall (haven't seen much yet because i will be going back there in a couple of days)
& finally NOW i am in Athens, Greece...
I just got here last night at 9pm & we got completely lost...to make things even harder, it's not like you can just read street signs cuz they are all in greek letters & the maps we had were in latin letters....
so i looked up simple phrases in the back of our Let's Go book & tried to communicate with the locals (they didn't speak hardly any english)...but sure enough i saved the day (3 hours later) & everything was ok
Today we went to most of the major sights...Acropolis, Agora, & all the ancient temples....you ALL NEED to see Acropolis!!!! It is simply stunning...i'll have pictures when i get back to the states. Crepes are also a big hit here...but who doesn't like crepes?!? Also I can now say I had an authentic greek gyro! Very good & VERY cheap! Most food items here are at least 5 euros & the gyro is 8 euro....but if you say you want it "to go", it's only 1.60 euro!!!! Anyways, it's Sangria time now! I'll keep ya updated!
