Alright LJ, ready for a recap?

Forgive my self-indulgence, this is more for my records than anything else.

:-)

In 2005 I...

- performed as the principal mallet percussionist in the Central District Concert Band at Mechanics Hall.
- marched in the Presidential Inaugural Parade with Spartans, saw Bush up close, the world kept spinning haha.
- auditioned for All-States, didn't make it, but the experience helped me grow a lot. I'm alllmost over it haha. Just playing!
- thought I fell in love for 2 microseconds...not so much.
- performed in Disney World with my high school's Concert Band.
- marched in Disney World with my high school's marching band, rocking the marching xylo!
- edited one crazy-crazy Marching Band video.
- got a large enough scholarship at Emerson to attend my first choice college.
- turned 18 years old, and had a wonderful birthday party filled with Karaoke, tots, and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
- had my first article published in the Townsend Times.
- directed my final Band In A Can performance.
- took my final AP test.
- performed as a percussion soloist for the first time.
- performed in my final UMass Lowell All City Youth Wind Ensemble concert.
- attended a wonderful, teen-movie worthy prom with Danielle Twohig as my lovely date and my best friends at my side.
- performed "Reason," my favorite song of all time with Elizabeth in the final Top 40.
- got married to Lauren Watka...kinda.
- was awarded a scholarship from the Marines...for being smart? Ai-yei Captain!
- graduated from high school.
- met Keane with Karen, that kinda rocked!
- toured the country for a second summer.
- competed in the DCI Individual Competition on marimba.
- won my second Division 2 Champion gold medal.
- officially taught my first front ensemble.
- first attended Emerson College and found out that I absolutely made the right choice.
- began to become the person I knew I was meant to be, and was truly happy for the first time in a very long while.
- began taking percussion lessons with Matt Prendergast, and finally started to make real progress.
- began taking piano lessons with Scott Nicholas and found out that my potential as a pianist was far less limited than I thought.
- auditioned for a dance show by accident...found out that I don't actually know how to dance. Good to know!
- was hired as a box office assistant and house manager for Emerson Stage.
- music directed my first show ever, the MTS Jazz Cabaret at Emerson.
- met the wonderful Stacey Kent with Christina.
- performed as a percussionist in a Suffolk University student-directed piece entitled "Beyond The Limits."
- attended my first wedding as an adult as the date of the beautiful Meg Butts.
- attended the National Conference of Student Leadership in Orlando, Florida.
- had two articles published in the Berkley Beacon.
- realized that I'm not cut out for Journalism.
- learned a lot about Poetry performance.
- changed my major from Print Journalism to Writing, Literature, and Publishing.
- had my individually designed Music Direction emphasis in Theater Studies approved and officially became a double major.
- was hired by Admission as a Student Representative.
- was elected as president of my class at Emerson College.
- wrote my final research thesis on "Mean Girls" and still got an A-.
- music directed my first two musicals - mini-versions of "The Fantasticks" and "The Secret Garden"
- acted for the first time in 5 years in as "Yonkers" in a mini-version of "Gypsy"
- created and directed my very own holiday show.
- made the Dean's List.
- came closer to reaching my dreams than I ever thought I'd make it.

Here's to 2006 - I'll keep working hard and keep on loving, and we'll see how it goes! :-)
