So as some of you know I flew out Friday to Vermont for the 3rd time in 5 months. My Grandfather has been on Dialysis for the past year and last Thursday he had decided he has had enough and took himself off Dialysis. So I flew out Friday to be with him.
My Grandfather Was a WWII veteran who was a Proud member of the Famous "Fighting Fourth" Marine Division, he made all 4 beach landings of Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and mostly known Iwo Jima. I grew up with my Grandfather as my hero and it was almost unbearable to watch him deteriorate literally overnight. Saturday he was alert and awake and called a family meeting to divvy up all his fishing and hunting stuff. Sunday started off the same way, then a guy from the VFW came by to discuss his Military honors and grave sight foot stone that he selected. then as soon as that guy left the room it was like "Ok, all business is done, i can die now"...within a couple hours he fell asleep and was in and out of consciousness Monday morning he slipped in to a coma and Tuesday afternoon he passed away at 2:40pm est. below is the link to his obit here in Vermont. there will be a visitation next Wed night back in Springfield and funeral next Thursday in Chatham. Some of you I know have met him and i invite everyone to come to the services if you like.
