ok, so I am starting yet another new business
Ok, so for the last few years I have been going to Auction and buy up all kinds of stuff that I either thought I would collect or sell on eBay to make money....well the only thing that got collected was dust and monthly storage shed bills(3 to be exact) and everything seemed to fall in place in December of 2007 for what is about to be yet another trip into the "Entrepreneurial Jungle" for good ole Uncle Tykie.
My landlord recently bought a whole bunch of property from a foreclosure here in town and one of the buildings he bought was an old strip mall that he has put his offices in, so one day when I went in to pay my December Rent I jokingly said "hey why don't we become partners and turn the storefront next door into a We sell your stuff on eBay store"....."thats a damn good idea" so for the last 6 weeks I and some of his crew have been remodeling the the space to fit my needs, there is an office area where I can do consultations with clients and then a Huge Storeroom in the back for well...storage.
The name of my shop is "The Auction Shop" and unlike every other similar business in town I am only charging a 35%( that includes all 3rd party listing and selling fee's) as opposed to the 50% everyone else is charging, plus unlike the other stores I have 20 years in the antiques and collectibles field. My parents and my sister and I had an antique and collectibles store when I was growing up and well as I stated earlier I have been buying for years for myself and others I have met, so now it is time to put all my knowledge and skills and money on the line and give it a go.
So here is how it is gonna work.
1. You can either come into my shop( located at 316 Williams Lane Chatham, IL 62629) with your item/s and I can tell you what I think it will bring and if you agree I will take care of the selling and once it sells I will cut you a check, minus agreed upon fees. Also Keep in mind eBay is not the only avenue I use, I also have a number of collectors across the country that I have been buying for over the years and there are 100's of auction sites that I utilize.
2. If you don't live locally feel free to email me and we can discuss your item, if we come to terms then ship me the item and once it arrives I will attempt to sell it.
Here is what I suggest/ask people who want to make a little or a lot of money off of something they own.
* I like to start the Auction prices low. This draws a greater "Audience" to view and develop an interest in your item.
* I realize you may want a specific dollar amount for your item, but setting a reserve will only cost you more money as the auction sites charge more for a reserve and it limits the number of people who would be interested.
* If it is just sitting around collecting dust or you haven't used it since who only know... Let me sell it!
* If you have a lot of stuff to sell but don't have the time or knowledge or resources to get top dollar for it, let me sell it!
* Do you have stuff to sell but not enough for a yard or garage sale?...let me sell it!
* Do you have enough for a garage sale but don't like strangers in your home... let me sell it!
* Don't want to spend money advertising for a garage sale and planning months ahead for it only to have the weather be miserable and have a poor turn out?...Let me sell it!
* Are you too kind hearted and often take too little for items when people try to negotiate with you?...let me sell it!
