What is this place? Who's in charge here, and who has the arrogance to assume they can bring me here against my will, hold me in ignorance and keep me caged amongst strangers?

I refuse to stay here when my city needs me. You sit safe here in this boat of yours while greater men strive for better things. I cannot do the same. I will not. Be you man ( Read more... )

[He will eventually stopped being surprised by how angry people sound... Eventually.]

The Admiral. I would answer more questions, but I am new myself.

What sort of Admiral would this be? Admiral who? What Admiral thinks he has the right to do this to me?

I know very little about this individual, other than that he is capable of reviving the dead and has done so to you. I wish I had more information.

Are you a prisoner too?

No, I am a Warden who was also retrieved from death. I was given a rudimentary explanation and have had to rely on the statements of others.

Then you are one of my jailers.

No, he or she will be chosen for you later. I lack obligation at the moment.

Yet you sit idly by when I am confined here for no comprehensible reason, when there is so much more I must do. Whether you claim obligation or not, you share culpability for the continued injustices my city endures without me there to save it.

The Admiral does wish to offer you the chance to live rather than experiencing a useless death that would be of benefit to no one. This is why he saved you from your demise. I do not know if he will return you, but I believe he has the capacity to do so eventually, and allow you to enact change against any injustices.

Perhaps you will be able to appeal to him logically.

I have dedicated the last years of my life enacting changes for the betterment of society! My death would not have been useless had I successfully carried my plan to fruition!

I made a mistake, the error of trusting someone I shouldn't have. But up til then, I lived as I deemed best, and that your Admiral has it in his head that I am some sort of delinquent, that my choices were wrong, only goes to show him for the madman he is!

I refuse to demean myself by "appealing" to one such as he.

I have found that when presented with the task of entertaining a being more powerful than myself or any technology available to me, I have three choices; to refuse to act in hopes that eventually said being will get bored with me (and if that should happen I fully predict he will return you to a state of death), to appeal and argue the point, and prove your worth and actions as an individual, or to play their game and hope that you might find a loophole in their logic.

I do not presume to know you, but from what I've seen demonstrated it is fairly easy to conclude that raving angrily about the situation will accomplish nothing for your cause or have you returned.

I choose a fourth option.

If you are considering harm to yourself or others or gaining a technological advantage, consider first; what would any sort of threat accomplish to a being that can reverse mortality?

I am considering the downfall of a tyrant. Honorable men will always win the day in the end.

One would hope, though such victories rarely come immediately. Frequently they require sacrifice.

I have sacrificed before and would again.
