Over on Following Sea on my post of index entries there has beeen a little hammock discussion between
anteros_lmc vespican and
volgivagant about access to hammocks and its privileges
so I thought I might post this on my LJ.
It is from my grandmothers autograph album,a handsome leather bound one which she was given for her 16th birthday in 1911.
This is from a friend with whom she worked in a milliner's shop, and as all of her brothers were either pilots or merchant sailors so hammocks were a not unknown feature of life...
and I reckon that this counts as quite daring in 1911...the whole album actually has that world- before-the - war feeling to it.Might post some more in future weeks.
