I have decided this morning that I need to catch up with Spring and get myself going somewhat and included in those priorities are a Saturday poem update( upcoming guest column from
esmerelda_t!) and reading the contributions which people kindly posted for
anteros_lmc over the Easter weekend and many other things so as a sign the tree in the icon has changed to a blue sky and full late Spring blossom.More later -hopefully !
Meanwhile how about this for a sign of our times ? The Globe Theatre is having a family fun day this weekend for Shakespeare's birthday - so far so good
but a 'family funday' based on a Hamlet theme ? Its true ... here is the blurb.
Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday at our free, fun packed day with activities for all the family.
To mark the mid-point of our two year Globe to Globe Hamlet tour, this year’s party will be themed around the world’s most famous Danish prince. An Elsinore bouncy castle, the grave diggers’ ball pit, a skull coconut shy, face painting and cake decorating are just some of the activities taking place alongside special performances on the Globe stage.
So lets see then, - thats a fratricidal king and an illegal and, as it was then viewed, incestuous marriage, a father who uses his emotionally unstable daughter as bait for political ends,a suicide, and - oh murder and vengeful ghosts - yes, grand family fun all the way ...
The Globe is a great theatre and its projects on the whole admirable, but one hopes they did see the ironic sense of this before they adopted the blurb..
or just a 21st century determination to put the fun into dysfunctional.
I want to have a go in the gravediggers ball pit, personally.
