4/5 So Far!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Hm. Mixed thoughts on this one, really. I'll start off by saying I enjoyed the film. Before I offer any criticisms or whatnot, I did enjoy the film. So, now, my problems with it..... It was epic in length. At over 2:45, it certainly felt quite long at times (at times. It didn't plod along for the whole film, but it did feel long). I'm a person that can stand a long film... but this was long. Also, perhaps a nitpicky thing that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, I had a had time occasionally telling when the film was set. I mean, there were periodic clues, and apparently the costumes are painstakingly accurate, but didn't help ME. And clearly, it's all about me. Acting wise, I was moderately impressed with Brad Pitt, as he didn't constantly strike me as Brad Pitt. Cate Blanchett, though? Fantastic. Tilda Swinton, in her small role? Wonderful.

I was just reading something about how similar this film and Forrest Gump are. I mean, I saw the whole epic, told throughout US history aspect that was pretty obvious, but outside of that... I didn't realize JUST HOW SIMILAR the films really were. Interesting stuff..... though Forrest Gump is the vastly superior film, at least in my mind. In case you are interested, link here.

So, I've nearly succeeded in my quest to see all 5 Best Picture nominees, with Frost/Nixon on Sunday, just before the ceremony. I shall rank the films, in order, early next week, but if you look back at my reviews, I don't think it's too much of a surprise thus far.

That's all I got for today. So, until next time, enjoy the Sun Chips!
