Ranji's Dairy -Day 1(Pallet Town)

Mar 30, 2009 15:41

Yeah, so..um I wrote Pokemon fic..it's with my OC Ranji. ^_^ Yeah..it was a quick write and since it's supposed to be his personal journal type thing hopefully it seems like it was written by a 10 year old. -laughs-

Ah, yeah..obviously I don't own Pokemon, if I did I'd be a rich bastard. ;p Pokemon is all (c) The Pokemon Company and stuff.

Today was just another day in Pallet Town; at least, it might be for some people. For me, it was the dawn of a band new adventure! Today was the day of my tenth birthday and that meant that I could finally leave home on my first adventure with Pokemon!

I woke up early; up with the sun today after all, it was going to be one of the biggest days of my life. Clothes were put on and teeth brushed in minutes, no doubt Mom would remark that it was the fastest time ever. I checked myself over in the mirror and grinned, smoothing down my slightly spiky blue hair, it really drove Mom crazy sometimes, but she stopped arguing about it a few years ago. I grinned at myself, admiring my handsome (if I can be modest) profile and my sparkling golden-brown eyes.

Well, that was enough staring in the mirror and so I was downstairs in a short bit and sitting at the table, grinning from ear to ear while Mom put my favorite breakfast of waffles and hash browns down on the table. “Happy Birthday Ranji!” She said, smiling warmly at me. “Thanks Mom!” I cried out before pouring a ton of syrup over everything and devouring it. Mom laughed a bit and shook her head. “Honestly, you need to try chewing sometimes..” I just shrugged and finished up, brushing some crumbs off my shirt. “Sorry Mom..” I muttered before getting to my feet and moving to put the dishes in the sink.

Mom just smiled. “It’s OK darling, I love you anyway, such is the life of a parent.” She went over and hugged me tightly, ruffling my hair. “I’m just sad my darling little boy is off on his grand adventure, you’ll call me right? I want you to call me every day..” I sighed and rolled my eyes ducking out from Mom’s grip. “Mom! I may not be able to call every single day, there are a lot of forests and stuff but I’ll call when I can, I promise.” This seemed to make her happy and she nodded. “Are all your things packed? I believe Professor Oak is waiting for you in his lab..”

I nodded and gave her another quick hug before heading upstairs and grabbing my backpack. I put on my belt and made sure my bedroll was well packed before heading downstairs. “OK, I’m off! I love you Mom, I’ll call when I can!” She nabbed me by the wrist and pulled me into another tight hug, sniffling a bit and kissing my cheek. “OK..but..please be careful and come back to visit your poor Mother..I want to see your Pokemon..” I nodded. “I will, I promise!” and with that I was out the door and all but running to the Professor’s lab.

It was just all to exciting, every boy dreamed of his first Pokemon and to get mine from the great Professor Oak was just awesome beyond words! I took a deep breath and headed into the lab, only to be greeted by one of Oak’s aides. “Ah, Ranji, I’m sorry but the Professor stepped out, he should be back soon..” Soon? Ugh, that meant waiting. “Well, OK!” I tried to be cheerful, at least Toru wasn’t there, I know he was supposed to get his first Pokemon today too.

I waved goodbye and left the lab, my feet took me on the path that leas out of Pallet down, standing on the edge of the grass, I gazed out over the tall grass and sighed, only wishing that Oak would could back soon. I took half a step toward the grass when a voice stopped me. “Hey! Don’t go into the tall grass you might get attacked!” I recognized the voice of Oak and laughed, stepping back. “Sorry Professor! I was just getting a bit antsy waiting for you to get back..” Oak laughed and trekked out of the tall grass before patting me on the head. “I know I know! It’s that day isn’t it? Well come on, let’s go back to my lab and we’ll get you a Pokemon partner.”

I could hardly think and had a heck of a hard time walking calmly back to the lab after the Professor, my heart was racing and my stomach full of butterflies. Once we got there I was rather disappointed to see Toru. He was his same old self, his hair still just as red and far spikier then my own. He caught sight of me and rolled his eyes. “Gramps why is this guy here? I thought I was the only one who was going to get one of your special Pokemon!” Oak laughed and shook his head. “Toru, hush, you both get one, but Ranji gets to pick first since he’s full of energy it seems.”

I wanted to stick my tongue out at Toru but I somehow managed to behave and walked up to the table where the three pokeballs sat. It was really a hard choice, this pokemon would be with me for the rest of my life and I wanted to make sure he was perfect for me. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trusting in fate I reached out for a ball, my fingers brushing over the smooth outside of the small red and white things, I picked the one that felt the best and held it up triumphantly. “I choose you!” I called and pressed the button to release my new Pokemon partner.

A sweet little bulbasaur landed on the ground and looked up at me with sweet eyes. “Bulba!” He went and I knew I was in love. I was on my knees in an instant, my arms wrapping around my new best friend, a tear rolling down my cheek. “I’m going to call you Martin, how does that sound?” Martin looked up at me and seemed to grin. “Bulbasaur!” I laughed and nodded, smiling. “It’s good. I’m glad you like it..” My gaze shifted as I saw Toru get up and go over to the table, he grabbed a ball and pressed the button, watching with the same awe in his eyes as his new partner popped out.

“Hmm, a charmander..he looks strong.” He patted his charmander on the head and turned to met. “Oi, Ranji! Let’s have a battle! Your new Pokemon against mine!” I blinked and frowned a bit, I’d just made friends with Martin I didn’t want to force him to fight, but he looked up to it and bounced about and so I nodded. Professor Oak sighed and shook his head. “Toru, so pushy..but I suppose since Ranji doesn’t really know how to fight this is a good opportunity for him.” He crossed his arms. “Go ahead, I’ll heal them both when you are done..”

I got to my feet and nodded. “OK! Martin I choose you!” I called out and watched with glee as he ambled out before me. Toru just snorted. “Charmander go!” He called out and laughed. “Scratch attack!” I watched in horror as the Charmander went over and scratched at Martin, who managed to handle the attack OK. “OK Martin counterattack with tackle!” I watched avidly as Martin went and tackled the little Charmander who seemed unfazed by the whole thing. He scratched again at Toru’s command and I noticed Martin wince a bit but he was standing strong so I ordered another tackle.

The fight continued one that way for a short while before with one last scratch Martin simply couldn’t take it anymore, he fainted and I cried out and was at his side in an instant, cradling him in my arms. “Oh Martin..I’m so sorry..” Toru crowed with victory. “Hah! No chance you’ll be a better trainer then I am.” He called back his charmander. “I’m out, see ya gramps, loser.” He waved goodbye and headed out, leaving me shaking and furious. Oak came over and patted me on the head. “It’s fine Ranji, put him back in his ball and I’ll make him good as new.” I called him back and held the ball up to the Professor, a determined look in my eye. “We’re never going to lose another battle! Martin and I will just get stronger.” I got to my feet and brushed myself off, watching as the Professor ran the pokeball through his machine. He handed me the pokeball and I took it, securing it to my belt. “Thank you Professor..” I smiled. “I’m going now! I’ll see you around.” Oak nodded and smiled. “Good luck on your Pokemon adventure Ranji!” He waved goodbye and I left the lab, heading to the edge of the tall grass.

“Well, this is it..once I go past here my life is changed..I’m on my Pokemon adventure!” I called out and took my first step into the grass, leaving Pallet Town for the first time in my life.
