Title: N/A
Characters: Deke (recordsfire), brief appearance by Road and Komui

"You need to be more careful, Deke. With the disease that you have, who knows how long you'll continue to survive," Komui said as he looked over at the redhead.

Deke paused in putting on his coat, glancing over at the older man. He replied, "C'mon, Komui. Ya worry to much. I've had this disease ever since I was a child. It hasn't affected me yet."

"That you know of. It's been reported that you've had sleep paralysis for the past few weeks, getting tired at random times, and can barely walk when you use a majority of your powers."

The redhead frowned, buttoning up his coat before turning to look at Komui. He replied, "I'll admit ta the others, but the last one is only when I use powers that are related ta memories."

Komui sighed, giving Deke a stern look. He said, "As I said, you need to be more careful, Deke. We don't know what kind of disease that you have, nor do we have any sort of medicine for it. Don't do anything reckless."

Deke smiled at him innocently. "Me? Reckless? O'course not. I'll see you around, Komui." With that, the redhead quickly left in order to avoid any more lecturing from the doctor. The redhead propped his arm against the wall as he fought back a wave of dizziness. Deke reached inside his coat and pulled out a small bottle of pills, staring down at it. The Watcher took a deep breath before throwing the small bottle away, watching it collide with the wall, causing it to open and the pills to spill out.

The redhead gritted his teeth. He knew better than anyone that this disease could very well kill him, but at the same time, Deke knew that this wasn't something he can tell the others.

"Having trouble, Pyrrhus~?"

Deke's head shot up and his eye narrowed when he caught sight of Road. "Road, what are you doing here?"

Road smiled at him. "To visit my mother of course!" Then her smile became devilish. "And to see how you're holding up."

The redhead scoffed, getting off of the wall and walked past her. "'m fine."

"So you say~ Don't forget, Deke, with no cure for that disease, you'll die pretty soon~!"

"Don't say it so happily, Lily," the redhead growled out.

Road giggled. "It can't be helped. I could always tell Daniel about this, you know. And you know what will happen if he finds out."

The redhead stopped, turning to glare at her. He said, "You're not going ta tell him anything. What happens ta me shouldn't be his concern anymore."

"Is that really what you think?" It was an innocent question, genuinely curious.

Deke turned away, refusing to answer as he continued on his way. He ducked under the staircase when he heard familiar voices, remaining quiet until they passed. Deke released a bitter laugh as he pressed the heel of his hand against his temple. The redhead smiled, though it was far from happy. Finally, he let the back of his head hit the wall as he stared up at the ceiling.

"It'd be a lot more easier if he can just forget about me."
