↝Musician's Oath↜

Notes: Inspired by this

He should have known from the beginning. He should have known that this entire war - everything - was about him.

His brother never truly cared about the war. Not even when he had awoken as the Millenium Earl. When he first awoken as a Noah, the three brothers continued to hang around with each other, never letting anything separate them.

Not even when Neah himself turned into a Noah.

The brothers stayed together, happy, especially when Neah fell in love with a young woman by the name of Road, who they had yet to realize was the Noah of Dreams at that time. When they found out, they were ecstatic, pleased to have found another family member.

Their family got bigger as more Noah awakened, and Neah remembered how they didn't even attack anyone. Back then, the world didn't matter. Nothing did. Only their family.

Until that fateful day.

Neah had encountered a young woman - an Exorcist. An enemy of their little family. He didn't know what had possessed him to spend his day with the woman - away from his wife, his family. The Musician found himself being drawn to the woman, drawn to her innocence (no pun intended) and her gentle smiles. After that day, he kept visiting the same forest, hoping to meet her again.

He did.

Neah kept the meetings a secret, playing the role as a doting husband and caring brother. It was then he realized that he was slowly falling in love with this woman. Inwardly, he was upset, feeling as though he was betraying the people that he loved. Yet, Neah continued to meet her, hoping to understand more and more about this Exorcist, her views on the war. He didn't - couldn't - risk letting anyone find out about her. But he knew that it was worthless.

When Neah went to visit the woman once more, he found her corpse, hanging from a tree. Immediately, the Musician knew who had committed such an act. Neah went to 'talk' with his brother, Adam, filled with rage and an insanity he had tried to restrain. As the two met, Neah was greeted with betrayed looks from his family, and a sorrowful look from the woman he had once loved. However, the Musician hadn't cared back then. He wanted revenge for the woman he befriended - even loved.

After killing his brothers and sister, except for perhaps Road and Adam himself, Neah took Mana and ran. The two brothers continued to flee from their remaining family, hoping that the two would eventually stop. However, Neah encountered Adam once more and the two fought to the death.

When he was dying, Neah had a vision. The Musician had a vision of an infant with misty grey eyes and chocolate brown hair. He heard a voice talking to him. It sounded so much like that woman's.

"The Destroyer of Time.

He will be the one to end the Earl's life.

He will be the one to choose the right path to save this world.

But he needs you to be right beside him.

Don't give up yet. Please."

Neah made a wish to his own Memories. He wished that they would flee into the young infant - an unknown child that was left without parents. When he felt the memories fade, Neah released a small, maniacal laugh.

"Let this be clear, Adam~ I'll come back one day, and I'll be sure to kill you!"

For he, like all the others, were nothing but puppets.

And now, as Neah watched the events unfold in front of his host's eyes, the Musician knew. Adam never wanted to fight in a war, not while he still had his family. But now, upon realizing that his precious brother had betrayed him because of an Exorcist, the Earl will do whatever it takes to end this god-forsaken war.

The Earl wanted revenge on the ones who caused his family to break apart.

And Neah knew that he will have to make himself known once more and end this war with his (and Allen's) hand. He will prevent his younger brother from causing anymore chaos.

He will be the victor in this battle.

Because that's the only salvation Neah can give to the family he had betrayed all those years ago.
