I find your generalizations completely unfair. It was in fact a small minority of the Slytherin house that gave you "flack" as you put it. I don't think any of us were deserving of detention, although I do support Professor Snape's attempts to aid a student.

Better remember to close the curtains and stop up the keyhole, little Draco, there's always Professor "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me!" to think of. And as charming a -some as you three would make, I'd really rather not even go there.

Actually, Madam Hooch, I always thought leather would be more appropriate. Especially when you think that he has his Godfather as an influence.
