Chapter 8: Betrayal
All day, everyone was getting ready for the mission.
Hyukjae and Donghae have loaded the items they will use inside the museum that Ryeowook have provided inside the SUV’s. Before they are about to go, Kyuhyun ordered one last meeting to discuss again the plan.
“And make sure that your watches won’t be taken away from you. I need that to track all of you,” Kyuhyun ordered and everyone nodded.
“Just remember what we talked about and we’ll be good,” Heechul reminded.
“And don’t leave anyone behind,” Kyuhyun followed.
As they were about to go to the SUV’s, everyone patted Sungmin’s back.
“Thank you for the good plan Sungmin.”
Sungmin was only able to smile weakly.

As they were on their way to the museum Sungmin remembered the last talk he had with Kibum
Sungmin was ready to secretly attack Kibum by using the smoke bomb Ryeowook had made when his enemy suddenly smiled.
“Don’t you even try,” Kibum warned.
Sungmin looked around and noticed men hiding around the area. And they were all looking at him, watching how he would act.
"You know, I can instantly have you killed here," Kibum smiled as they were having coffee.
“Then just kill me, I don’t care” Sungmin dared.
“But that won’t be fun, would it?”
“What do you want?”
“I want you.”
“What?”
“I want you to join me.”
“What do you need me for?”
“Because the best place you can be is by my side.”
“You’re not answering my question.”
“Because we have the same past.”
Sungmin clenched his jaw, trying to stop the anger he’s feeling from arising.
“I used to watch you from afar. I actually was the one who made that painting. I know how lonely you were. I was just like you.”
“Stop fucking with me.”
“And you know, I can easily kill Kyuhyun if I want to.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
“You know, I actually can. He’s in his study room right now, am I correct?”
Sungmin’s eyes dilated.
“Man, you’re such a giveaway” Kibum laughed, “I won’t kill him… if you would come to me.”
Sungmin observed Kibum who was so relaxed in front of him. He can’t believe how powerful this guy is. He had killed the Cho family and yet he’s here, just like a free man who hasn’t done anything wrong.
“I promise not to touch your friend if you would come to me.”
“Sungmin hyung?”
Sungmin blinked and noticed the fox mask was looking at him. He can see from the eyes that Kyuhyun was worried.
“Are you okay? Are you nervous?”
“I’m okay, I’m sorry; I was just thinking about something.”
Kyuhyun suddenly placed his arm around Sungmin and squeezed him.
“Everything will be okay, we’ll help each other if anything goes wrong, don’t worry.”

When they reached the museum, Donghae and Hyukjae parked 50 meters away from it.
Before they all stepped down and leave Kyuhyun behind with Hyukjae, Sungmin stayed for a while.
“Do you need anything?” Kyuhyun asked.
As Sungmin’s heart won’t stop to beat, he leaned forward to his dongsaeng. Kyuhyun was surprised his hyung’s face got closer and closer. He froze on his seat, waiting for his hyung to stop moving closer. But Sungmin didn’t.
Soon enough, Sungmin was so close they can feel each other’s breath inside the SUV. Hyukjae didn’t even dare to look from the rearview mirror.
Sungmin looked into Kyuhyun’s eyes with longing. Despite the dim light inside, his dongsaeng’s eyes still looked wonderful. And then he looked at his dongsaeng’s lips… those pinkish, young lips.
“Can I kiss you for good luck?” Sungmin whispered. He looked into his dongsaeng’s eyes waiting for an answer.
“Uh, uhm…” Kyuhyun looked at the ceiling of the car, blinking, thinking if he should really say yes but he doesn’t know if Sungmin was really willing but yes, yes he would like to kiss and-
Sungmin didn’t wait and just moved closer to devour Kyuhyun’s lips. His kiss was hungry. He pushed Kyuhyun to the seat and brushed his dongsaeng’s hair as he continually ravaged Kyuhyun’s lips. Kyuhyun was so surprised but was greatly pleasured he exhaled a low moan. When Sungmin heard it, he automatically made the kiss softer and sweeter. He held Kyuhyun’s collar to pull him closer and gently bit his dongsaeng’s lips. And they heard a knock from the window. Yesung was calling Sungmin.
Sungmin had to break the kiss. After that their breaths came out in cloudy puffs. Kyuhyun looked at his hyung, waiting to explain what had happened and when Sungmin looked back at him his eyes widened and looked away. He suddenly remembered Sungmin’s confession and his cheeks suddenly burned.
“Kyu-ah…”
Kyuhyun’s eyes dilated. Then he looked at his hyung who was smiling.
Sungmin leaned forward again to give him a short kiss, but not short enough to make Kyuhyun melt.
“You’ll have the stones soon. You’ll be happy again.”
And with that Sungmin stepped down from the SUV.
Kyuhyun stared in space for a while then he looked forward and saw Hyukjae was looking at him through the rearview mirror.
“Wha-Did that just hap... Did he just kiss me?!”

Sungmin, Siwon, Yesung, Ryeowook went in first. Eventually Shindong and Donghae followed.
Siwon, Shindong and Donghae went to the elevator so they can go to the club at the basement while Sungmin, Yesung and Ryeowook headed to the washroom. Once they got in, they changed their clothes to black attires and wore their bonnet mask so they would remain invisible in the dark. Yesung kept their clothes in the help’s compartment. He climbed into the cubicles so he can take off the lid off the ceiling. He pulled Ryeowook up to go in first and then Sungmin then he closed the lid again behind him.
They crawled their way inside until they reached the elevator shaft. At the west part of the ventilation passageway, Jung soo and Heechul were already there. The items they needed were provided by their hyungs. They wore their harness and arranged the metal cord that would let them hang. Sungmin fired the special gun at the cement wall beside him to pierce the bolt. And from that he pulled the metal cord and tied it to his harness. They waited for the elevator car to move and Sungmin jumped out and let himself hang. He went down with the elevator shaft and went into the ventilation passageway one floor above the club at the basement. When he got in, he took off the cord and it immediately went back to the bolt. Next was Ryeowook. Then it was Yesung’s turn. As he was going down, he saw the elevator stopped and he realized it was still midway before where Sungmin and Ryeowook was in. Suddenly the car started to move.
“Oh shit,” Yesung’s eye widened.
He acted fast as held on to the cord and tried to pull it so he can go up but when he did, it only made him go lower.
“Oh no, nonononono,” Ryeowook was about to help Yesung when Sungmin pulled him back because the elevator suddenly blocked their way as it went up.
Yesung then pulled the cord abruptly so it’ll halt (like what seal belts do) and he immediately climbed into the available passageway to which he got in time and disconnected the cord from his harness. Once the elevator went past them he peeked from where he is and said, “I’m okay, let’s just meet there.”
Sungmin showed his thumb up as an answer.
Yesung remembered from the blueprint he made that there’s still another way. But the only way to go down would be the stairs. He went out on that floor’s washroom and was happy it wasn’t that well lit. He tiptoed while sticking to the wall so the lights won’t hit him as much and the camera won’t see him. Then he saw this guy that suddenly went out of a room. He froze hoping the guy won’t notice him. But it turned around and looked at him. The guy in suit was about to talk when Yesung charged at him and hit him with an injection on his neck. It was filled a special tranquilizer Ryeowook had provided for them that he made himself. Once the guy was down, Yesung pulled him away from the hallway and kept him in the fire exit. Finally, after encountering 2 more guys, he met up with Sungmin who was just using a special card for the door.
“Did you make that key yourself?” Ryeowook asked Sungmin.
Sungmin gulped and just smiled. “Let’s go in.”
Once they got inside, they saw the floor was made of glass. And beneath them was the whole club.
“There are no alarms?” Yesung noticed as he looked at the walls.
“It temporarily disengages as the key is used. Let’s hurry up,” Sungmin ordered.
Donghae, Shindong and Siwon were taking everybody’s attention downstairs. Siwon by showing off his body, Shindong and Donghae thru their dancing’s exhibitions style. They should do anything that they can so no one would look up. Good thing the lights that are on in that special room were only pointed at the stones.
There are 3 places where the stones were located. They were as big as three pounds of stone. All three were suspended in air. But if you would look closely, you can see 3 holes located on each wall. 3 air tubes that blew high pressured to keep those stones suspended. Ryeowook took off his small backpack and took out the fake stones they’ll replace the old ones with. They were at the center of the room, trying to get the right feeling. The only way they can get the real stones would be to dodge them with the fake ones. Sungmin wiggled his fingers and held the fake stone.
“Here goes nothing.”
He threw the stone with one hand and it hit the real stone. Yesung caught the real one while the fake stone suspended in air. Sungmin did it again with the other until they finally got the 3 stones.
Once Sungmin had placed the stones in Ryeowook’s backpack, they left the room and went back to the ventilation passageway. Jung soo and Heechul were waiting to pick them up and carry them back to where they used to be.
“Here,” Jung soo gave Sungmin bolt gun that had a rope so he can carry himself up.
“Thanks, hyung, I’ll meet you guys at the mansion. I still have to do something.”
“What will you do?”
“Just hurry back and bring the stones to Kyuhyun.”
“But-“
“Jung soo let’s go! The elevator car’s about to go up!”
Sungmin smiled to his hyungs as they went up. When he saw them get into the ground floor’s passageway, he sighed heavily.

Kyuhyun was surprised to get a call from Heechul.
“It’s done. We got the stones, we’re going back.”
“O-okay.”
Kyuhyun looked at his watch. They were an hour early from what he expected.

When Yesung’s team got back at the SUV, Kyuhyun was searching for Sungmin.
“The others will follow soon. We must get home, Kyuhyun. We need to protect the stones,” Heechul requested.
“Okay… let’s go.”
Sungmin watched from afar as the SUV where Kyuhyun’s in drove away.
“I’m sorry.”
He was just afraid that the time will come when Kyuhyun would blame him from the tragedy that happened years ago. Things may seem fine now but what about in the future, when he brings more bad luck for the team… When things get really tough?
“Sungmin, you ready?”
He looked at the dark spot from the alley he was standing at. Kibum was smiling at him.

Kyuhyun waited for Sungmin all night. The guys were happy to finally get the stones back but how can he celebrate without his hyung? He opened his laptop to check the trackers. He saw all of them were in the mansion. Including Sungmin’s….
Kyuhyun went up and went to the basement where they kept the stones. That was where the device said his hyung was in. When he opened the door to the treasury room, the bag was there. He opened it and took out the contents.
Sungmin hyung’s watch…?!
Then Kyuhyun took out the stones.
He looked at them closely and noticed something wrong. As his emotions started to haywire, he threw the stone on the floor. When it hit the ground, the outer core cracked and it revealed a dark stone.
Kyuhyun took out the other stones and threw them hard on the floor as well. It did the same thing.
The stones they got were false. What’s worse was that Sungmin was missing.
Intentionally.
“Why…?”
