I think the right person won. I was hoping he'd win right from the first time I saw him in auditions. I did like Chrislyn but she would have been another Casey Donovan. Gone and forgotten after one album. Like all the girls really. Mark was fugly and Luke is actually more boring than Wes, I think.
There's only Guy and that awful Damien Leith that have done good as winners, but you know I don't think Wes will get lost this year. He's too good, too experienced and too marketable, because he has that wonderful stage presence and is really quite humble. I think he deserved to win. I reckon he has songs lined up for his album and because they're doing things different this year, he'll have some of his original stuff on there because it's that good. He has a killer first single which is something that none of the others had, so I reckon that they're trying to change the climate and culture of Idol. And for the better, because some great talent has been found through that show, it's just our small market can't handle them all - hence why Dean went into acting, I reckon.
Oh hunny, I've opened the proverbial can of worms here.
The right person won but his competition wasn't up to much. They were just going through the motions to make money for Telstra.
Mark may have been fugly but who looks at a person when you hear the song on the radio? Wes is weird looking but that didn't stop him. And he's tiny... Anthony Calea sized. Hey, they didn't call him pocket rocket. Obviously being referred to as a mini vibe is only for females...
Wes is only marketable if he does what he's told. I think he's been in the business too long for that. But we shall soon see. He probably does have songs lined up for his album but are they any good? If the songs he writes are anything like the songs he sung on Idol, they'll be boring. I totally agree about his debut single. Might even buy it rather than dl it. ; ) But let's face it, Poor Luke was given a totally boring and whiny song that not even HIM could have made sound good. Hmmm, come to think of it, I'd love to hear Ville sing it.
And yes, I agree with the small Aust market not being able to handle it. There are way too many brilliant OS female singers miles better than anyone we have. Pink, Christina, Gwen and even Rhianna and that lot. I think there are too many male singers/bands that are vying for the niche that Wes will fit into too.
I wish him well, at least he has a nice voice. Time will tell.
