when i was four years old
they tried to test my i.q.
they showed me a picture
of 3 oranges and a pear
they said,
which one is different?
it does not belong
they taught me different is wrong...

Dear Clothing Manufacturers,

Do you think it would be possible to produce a line of clothing for women who are both fat and ( Read more... )

First of all: you are beautiful. Every time I see you you look great!

Second of all: I don't think clothing manufacturers make clothing to fit ANY human woman. I have a hard time, too. The Manufacturers try and find an unrealistic averages, and design crap to suit those non-existent women. Good example: hip-hugger pants don't look good on ANYONE (well, maybe 12 year olds) and that's ALL THAT IS OUT THERE unless you get "old people" clothes from Sears. I am sick and tired for women't clothing having differenet sizes for different brands and even WITHIN a brand. What the hell is a size "0" or a "1/2" anyway, people????!!!!! Seriously, I've seen this too many times to recount. And I am THREE different sizes in Dockers clothing, depending on the type of pant I am buying.

Why can't women's clothing be measured in inches. I mean, and inch is a friggin' inch, right? They do it for men's clothing----waist, length, collar, etc... Most men's clothing is pretty easy to understand. You know what you're gonna get, basically. (Although they, too, are guilty of limiting styles/sizes to the "average"-I have a helluva hard time finding pants to fit Joe) But at least men have hard numbers to go by.

I am sorry about this. I needed to rant and you provided the perfect voice to that rant.

I am afraid that you will have to either have clothing you like, but doesn't quite fit you, tailored, or you will have to go to the really expensive joints that offer custom-fitting.

baH!
...and good luck :)

you ARE beautiful...

Ranting is fine. If I can say something that inspires someone, then I am happy to listen to what they have to say.

Yeah, I would like to learn how to sew at least well enough so that I can alter the clothes that sort of work and make them look good on me. This would also be really practical if I did lose some weight. I wonder though how much it would cost me to get things altered. I will have to start checking into that.

Thanks :)

*nods* it isn't the weight aspect. it is hard to find clothes that are made correctly and fit appropriately when you're short, no matter what weight you are. I am totally sympathetic to what a pain it is to find decent fitting clothes - just want you to understand that being smaller wouldn't change that. I have to alter almost everything.
