BACKGROUND: As a boy Dick was the youngest in a family of acrobats known as the Flying Graysons. At an early age he'd already joined the act as a skilled acrobat and traveled all over the country with The Haly Circus. That's pretty much what his life consisted of up until the age of twelve. One time during a tour the circus performers got threatened for extortion money by the local mafia. They were not able to meet the mafia's demands.
As a result Dick's parents got brutally murdered in front of him. Lucky for Dick the master detective and billionaire Bruce Wayne took pity on him and adopted him as his ward. Together with Bruce he investigated the case of his parents and eventually started learning how to become a master detective himself under Bruce's care. As well as becoming his sidekick known as Robin.
But as all people do, Dick grew up. He left Bruce when he was old enough to buy his own apartment with the small fortune his parents had left him. For a little while, Dick worked as a cop where his new found mutant ability of empathy came in handy. However, not liking the boundaries working as a cop gave him, he left to begin his own detective agency.
Not only did he become a private detective, he also did some work as a vigilante named Nightwing. In his career he's done a few stints for the X-Men and thus fell in Xavier's favour, even going as far as joining the X-Men for a year until they disbanded. When he heard Xavier was opening his school, Dick decided to come help out.
PERSONALITY: Despite having gone through the things he has gone through, Dick remains a positive person. He's all for having fun and is still - and always will be - a performer at heart. He does know when he needs to be serious though and he is when the situation calls for it. But most of the time he's a relaxed, open and genuinely nice person.
He's the trustworthy guy you can run to with your problems and he will listen and try to help out as much as he can. Though when it comes to his own problems...he's not that open with them. Honestly, he won't talk about them and will avoid doing so if he can help it. You'll have to pry it out of him.
He's pretty rational unless you somehow manage to really piss him off, he can be an unforgiving hot-headed jerk in that case. Because he knows people and their feelings (his power has a hand in that), he knows exactly which buttons to push and can really hit where it hurts. However he's not the type to linger on things, he'll get over it and move on and thus doesn't really hold grudges unless it's truly warranted.
All in all, Dick is reliable and easy to get along with.
APPEARANCE: Having an acrobatic and crime fighting past has given Dick a very defined athletic build, he's pretty muscly but not overly so like some certain superheroes. He stands at a height of 5'10" and weighs 175 lbs. He has short black hair, blue eyes and a mildly toned skin.
For clothing he tends to wear more casual clothes, especially liking hoodies. As Nightwing he wears a light sensitive black suit that has a blue "wing" starting from his chest and back that runs across his shoulders and extends to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers. To complete the outfit he wears a black domino mask with special lenses.
POWERS: Empathy. Dick has the ability to sense and read the emotions of others. This makes it rather hard to hide things from him as he's able to tell when someone's lying. Maybe it's not as effective as actual mind reading but it's quite handy nonetheless.
This power can also be used to manipulate the emotions of others with but Dick is very reluctant about using it that way.
