Someone saying his name called him back to reality, the oubliette and all its hell melting away into blackness, startling him as he was thrown from the subconscious state to reality again. And when the book slid from underneath him, Caim flinched, barely registering the words being spoken. But it didn't matter, because he could hear her voice and her tone and it was her, so that was enough. "It's not really," he admitted, lifting himself to sit upright. A yawn interrupted him and he shook his head in an attempt to make the grogginess go away. Brown eyes went to focus on her now, searching just long enough to identify 'which' Ava he was dealing with and how to proceed. "But, it's okay." (Because even if nothing else matters, deep down he can't let go. Beyond his friends and family, to all those people not involved, but now are in an eternal state of rest.
He'll never sleep comfortably again.)
Caim briefly thought about trying to get his book back from the woman, but when he recognized that he couldn't remember what it was even on, he decided against it. This wasn't someone he wanted to dismiss, anyway, and her company, especially her company alone, was something he missed dearly. He loved both his sister and Ava, but it was impossible for even he to not at times feel like he was missing something between the two of them; like he should let them be because he was obstructing the possibility of something.
But, Ava never said a word and perhaps Erielle wasn't even aware.
And who was he to desire honesty when he couldn't even give it entirely to the one person that could understand him? Nevertheless, he offered her a smile; a smile only and forever only for her. "This is rare. Is something the matter?"
